Using Insights in Aviato

This guide explains how to read and use Insights to track your hours, currency, and progression across your logbook.

Overview

Insights aggregates all logged flights and simulator sessions into clear totals, breakdowns, and trends. Data updates automatically as flights are added, edited, or imported.

Accessing Insights

Open Dashboard.
Tap Insights in the bottom navigation.
The Insights view opens with All Time selected by default.
Use the time filters at the top to switch reporting periods.

Total flight times

The Total Flight Times section shows cumulative hours across your entire logbook:

Total Flight Time: Airborne flight time
Block Time: Chocks-off to chocks-on
Time in Seat: Total seated time, including simulator sessions

These values reflect authority-style totals and are commonly used for applications, upgrades, and checks.

Hours by role

The Hours by Role chart breaks time down by operating role:

P2X
PU/T
P2
Additional roles where applicable

This view highlights experience distribution and helps verify role-specific requirements at a glance.

Time filters

Use the filter bar to change the reporting window:

All Time
Current Year
Last 12 Months
Last 28 Days
Last 7 Days
Custom date range

All charts and totals update instantly when a filter is applied.

Monthly totals

The Monthly Totals chart visualises time accumulation over the year:

Select Block Time or other time types
Choose the reporting year
View month-by-month progression

Role colours show how time is distributed within each month.

Hours breakdown

The Hours Breakdown cards summarise key metrics:

Night Hours
IFR Hours
Cross-Country
Total Landings

These figures are calculated directly from logged flight and simulator data.

Dashboard context

From the dashboard, Insights connect directly to your live logbook:

Recent flights appear below totals
Verified and imported flights are included automatically
Editing a flight immediately updates all Insight views
