Tracking a flight in Aviato
This guide explains how to track a live flight using Aviato’s Flight Tracker.
Access the Flight Tracker
You can access the Flight Tracker without logging a flight.
- Open aviato.so or the Aviato App.
- Select Flight Tracker from the top navigation.
- The tracker opens on a global map with a flight search panel.
Search for a flight
Enter a flight number in the search field.
- Use the full flight number (e.g. BA117, CX530).
- Tap or click Track Flight.
Aviato locates the most recent active or completed instance of that flight.
View live flight details
Once loaded, the tracker displays:
- Aircraft position on the map
- Route from departure to arrival
- Flight number and status (en route, landed)
- Departure airport and takeoff time
- Arrival airport and estimated arrival time
- Local time at the aircraft
- Live flight progress bar
The map and progress update automatically while the flight is active.
Track completed flights
For landed flights, Aviato shows:
- Final route flown
- Actual takeoff and arrival times
- Total flight duration
Completed flights remain available for review and logging.
Log the flight to your logbook
If you’re signed in:
- Select Log my flight from the flight panel.
- Aviato opens a pre-filled logbook entry using tracked data.
- Review and save to add it to your logbook.
Tracked flights can be logged immediately or reviewed later.
Share and reuse
Tracked flights can be:
- Shared with friends or family
- Revisited using the same flight number
- Used as the starting point for accurate flight logging
Flight Tracker connects live data directly to your logbook, reducing manual entry and improving accuracy.
