Logging simulator Using Aviato

Start a simulator entry

From the Dashboard select Log a sim.
This opens a new simulator session with a clean summary view.

Review the session summary

At the top of the screen, Aviato shows a high-level summary of the session:

  • Session status (completed)
  • Total duration
  • Aircraft and registration (if applicable)
  • Simulator-only route and identifiers

Simulator sessions do not require departure or arrival airports.

Fill in flight details

Complete the Flight Details section:

  • Date: Training date
  • Aircraft: Simulator aircraft type
  • Operation: Simulator Training
  • Training Type: Recurrent, Conversion, LPC, OPC, or other
  • Role: PF / PM
  • Capacity: PU/T or applicable training capacity
  • Approach: ILS or other approach types
  • Takeoffs / Landings: Day or Night counts

These fields determine how time is classified in your logbook.

Verify time breakdown

In the Time Breakdown section, Aviato allocates simulator time across:

  • Total Time
  • Time in Seat
  • P1 / P2 / P2X
  • Dual
  • PU/T Day and Night

Values can be edited where required to match training records or authority requirements.

Factors and compliance

Use the Factors column to fine-tune loggable time:

  • Day vs Night splits
  • Dual instruction time
  • PU/T allocations
  • Cross-country (if applicable by authority)

All changes update totals in real time.

Save the session

Once reviewed, save the entry.
The simulator session is Cleanly logged and included in currency, totals, and reports.

Simulator entries remain separate from live flight data and do not affect route-based metrics.
